[Discussion] My First Comic Book...
« on: July 12, 2016, 11:39:09 PM »
This is a thread for us to discuss and reminisce about our first comic book. There's a million, bajillion comic books out there, and it's interesting to hear how the love started for all of us.

For me, it was a Spider-Man comic book. I was in love with it. I got it second hand from an old box my mom's friend got from the library. It wasn't fancy or laminated, the pages were all bent, but it was amazing and I loved the artwork. I wish I could remember the actual title. I remember Mary Jane, and the first thing that struck me was how different it was from the Spider-Man movies with Toby Maguire. I would have gotten more into it, but I was young and without internet at the time. :P

Hahaha. My first was... honestly probably ... Bone?

Or Gon. I checked it out from the library as a wee one. It was pictures, and story, and a dinosaur.

My first 'mainstream' comics were probably jumping into X-men after seeing the movies! I had the fortune (Misfortune?) of reading Childhood's End of the New Mutants run, which while amazing...has a terribly heart-wrenching ending that I as a thirteen-fourteen-year-old was NOT expecting after the lightearted slice-of-life school-days romp that the rest of the series had been.

My first was one of the Superman family, for sure.  Those are all the comic books I ever read. What I can't remember at all is how I got my first.  Not a clue.  Granted, we're going back to the mid-1960s here, but still...  They're what the vast majority of my allowance went into for a solid eight years, so I really should remember. huh?

My first comic book was the first issue of the new canon Star Wars series by marvel. Now I'm reading all of them, and even going back and reading some Star Wars Legends comics!

I started my comic adventures (which led to my Marvel love) with Fantastic Four from my local library. I read the books that bundled up a bunch of the comics, which was where I fell in love with the Human Torch. I remember the Marvel Cinematic Universe started to take shape just after that, which was pretty neat.
